Caesar’s Palace

With high rollers like celebrities, Caesar’s Palace has become the luxurious place to be since 1966.  Decorated in the Roman style, the elegance of the exterior belies the chaotic casino interior that hides within the white columns and multiple fountains.  The sculptures that surround the outer doors resemble those from the Roman period and provide perfect picture taking opportunities.  Take a moment to look at the amphitheater as well where legendary performers take the stage during the hot summer nights in Vegas.

The nods to Roman decadence are apparent, but there is a still a sense that these nods are more for humor than in any sort of seriousness.  The waitresses, with their togas, still make visitors smile and laugh ñ but the updated look has helped to diminish the parody that Caesar’s Palace could have been.  The only trick with Caesar’s is that it’s huge ñ really, really huge.  Thus, it can be difficult to navigate if you don’t have any clear idea of how it’s laid out.

A good idea is to start with the Forum Shops which you can access from the strip (with a decent walk, so you should try this first thing in the morning before temperatures rise).  The Forum Shops include upper end shops, but also everyday stores like the Gap.  You can also check out an interesting story/performance about Atlantis at the end of the Forum Shops starting early in the morning around 10:30AM.  It’s a little campy, but when you’re waiting for the stores to open, it can certainly pass the time.

High end restaurants are also the norm here ñ Spago, The Palm, Rao’s, Mesa Grill, and Hyakumi are just a few.  But you can also go to Spaghetti Warehouse if you’re looking for quality low priced eats.

Staying at Caesar’s Palace can start at $129 per night, but it will give you access to their glorious Garden of the Gods fountains and swimming pools.  But if you can’t manage to stay here, try the Paris tower tour to get a glimpse of these waters.
