Luxor
With a 315,000 watt light that reaches all the way into space, the Luxor is the epitome of Las Vegas fun as well as fabulous design. Within the hotel, you will find a 30 story onyx pyramid that seems to extend into the heavens when you look up from the lobby. You can also see replicas of the Sphinx and Cleopatra’s Needle from the exterior, making for some perfect photo opportunities for you and the family.
The Luxor is considered to be a family friendly establishment, so don’t be afraid to bring the kids here. The interior is a lot less spectacular than the outside might have you believe, but then again, it’s only imitating Egypt’s treasures. The Ramses statues will greet you adjacent to the inclinators that provide a fun ride to the top of the pyramid. These sort-of elevators move at about a 40 degree angle and are certainly exciting to try out.
Rooms at the Luxor continue with the Egyptian theme and style, with a mild art deco influence to update the look. The rooms are larger enough for you to be comfortable and some provide you with an excellent view of the strip. Some of the rooms also offer a whirlpool by the window so you can bathe at night under the watch of the stars, if you like. These tend to be some of the most recommended rooms, so if you can afford to stay at the Luxor, you might want to try.
The buffet at the Luxor is just as Egyptian-themed and offers all of the different kinds of foods that other buffets on the strip offer. You will also find the King Tut Museum to be a fascinating day adventure, while the IMAX Theater is a great way to see your favorite flicks on the big, big screen. Children will also enjoy the Games of the Gods Arcade ñ all 18,000 square feet of it.
Rooms start out at $59, but with the whirlpools, you might spend up to $149 a night.
