What many people don’t realize is that Las Vegas can be a cheap and fun excursion ñ if you know where to look for deals. Of course, you can always find deals that save you money, but the true deals are the ones that not only save you money, but also give you a great room to rest your weary gambling muscles in. The Main Street Station is such a place. Located off the strip, Main Street Station is a sight for sore eyes.
What you might recognize when you walk in the door is not the attention to flashy details, but rather a more subdued and Victorian approach to the dÈcor ñ much as in old San Francisco and ‘The Painted Ladies.’ The exterior has flickering street lights and the ceilings are hammered tin, providing an authentic feel of the early 20th century. Chandeliers grace the lobby and Victorian and Western themed paintings surround the check in desks. Even the cashier cages look like old time race track cages ñ complete with brass detailing.
The recent remodeling and renovations at the Main Street Station have given the rooms themselves a bit more of a modern feel, though a tad plain. You will find the rooms to be spacious and inviting, while also being plenty of room for two to three people, in a pinch.
When you’re ready to eat, the Triple 7 Brew Pub and Main Street Garden Court buffet are both excellent choices that will fill up your stomach without taking too much money from your wallet. Children will love the arcades and parents will love the shopping across a small tunnel to the connected California Hotel.
Rooms at Main Street Station begin at $59 and up, with soundproofing in rooms that are closer to the highway so there’s no worry of getting the ‘loud room.’
