Rio Las Vegas
When you think of Rio, the city, you think of a party atmosphere where the fun never stops ñ and Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino is pretty much the same deal. With colorful decorations and a staff that bursts into song, it’s easy to see why you might think of a carnival when you walk into Rio. You can access Rio via shuttle from a hotel on the strip, or you can make the long drive to Flamingo Road.
The room size is the first thing that might attract you to Rio ñ after all, the all-suite idea is pretty tempting. And it’s true; the rooms at Rio are larger than typical Las Vegas rooms, but not by much. The rooms are simply decorated, which is a little strange given the atmosphere in the rest of the hotel, but it’s also a nice contrast after all of the glitz and the color of the casino setting. You also get your own refrigerator in the room, which is a nice touch for travelers who want to stock some of their own beverages in their rooms.
Penn and Teller have been holding court at Rio for a while now. Their magic and comedy act is not only enjoyable, but also mesmerizing. Or you could head to the popular Voodoo Lounge for live acts. The Masquerade Show in the Sky is a show that takes place at regular intervals in the casino area ñ it’s live action, so you’re going to be seeing a lot going on at once. It’s very ‘carnivale’ in nature, so don’t be surprised when a lot of the costumes are animal themed and outrageous.
The Carnival World Buffet is a lovely buffet choice in Vegas, but you can also try the Wine Cellar Tasting Room for a different taste.
Rooms start at $99 a night, but you also get the privileges of going to the sandy beach in the back or over to the Rio Secco golf course.
