Sam’s Town
Sometimes heading to Las Vegas can be frustrating – the tourists, the traffic, etc. But if you want to stay away from frustration and gamble where the locals gamble, you might want to head five miles away from the strip to Sam’s Town Hotel and Gambling Hall. Like the name suggests, this is a Western themed hotel and casino, where the atmosphere is a bit more relaxed and the shuttles to the strip can get you back and forth easily and safely.
Families who are going to Vegas might want to choose Sam’s Town Hotel and Gambling Hall because of the many things to do: an 18 screen movie theater, a bowling alley, a child care center, and so much more. Others like to go to the atrium where you can see animatronic animals and scenes played out at all times of the day. The real trees and other plants help to bring a little realism to the feature, but it’s basically just a simple backdrop where you can sit down and relax or watch your children explore.
The gambling area is pretty standard in terms of Las Vegas, with table games and plenty of slots. It’s not too dark and cramped, so it’s one of the better places to start your gambling adventures.
The rooms at Sam’s Town Hotel are fairly spacious with a Western/Native American type theme. You might be lucky enough to grab a room with a view of the mountains or the atrium too ñ just ask the desk when you make your reservation.
Head to the Sam’s Town Firelight Buffet for a variety of foods and desserts or you can head to the ice cream parlor for a sweet treat. Roxy’s Saloon is a bar where you can see nightly entertainment or you might want to look for the Sunset Stampede, a lights and laser show that occurs four times a day.
Rooms start at $50 and up for a double, but are $140 and up for a suite.
